"Where Y'at, How's Ya Momma and Dem?", "Makin' Groceries"

"Where Y'at?" is a local saying of people in New Orleans that they use in daily life. It is basically means "Where are you at?".

" How's Ya Momma and Dem?" has the same purpose of "Where Y'at?", It means "Hello, how are you and your family?"

"Makin' Groceries" is influenced by French speaking, the verb "faire" means making, to do. Instead of saying doing groceries. The phase is commonly speaking in New Orleans.

  2. Hi Candy,

These are both great examples of local phrases that you found! Did you take these pictures yourself? If you did, great; otherwise, you should be using pictures that you take yourself. Let me know if you have any questions!

  3. Also, I *love* the phrase "How's your mom and dems?" In my neighborhood, I hear it all the time!
